As part of its mission for protecting human rights, The Body Shop® has partnered with ECPAT to launch the global 'Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People' campaign commencing 2009 in over 60 countries. The campaign aims to call for public attention to this issue through global petitions and awareness generation activities around the world. As of today, a total of 6,378,746 petitions were collected, and Hong Kong, with the support of Against Child Abuse (ACA), has collected more than 300,000 signatures, highlighting the high level of concern by local people on this issue.
ECPAT and ACA have joined us to stage a handover ceremony at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre to forward the petitions collected in Hong Kong to HKSAR government representative, legislator James To in an effort to urge the government to strengthen the legislative protection of children's rights and to combat and prevent the sex trafficking of children and youth in Hong Kong. |
